Nestled in the picturesque Hillsboro, Morningstar Hillsboro stands as a groundbreaking senior living community. Our visionary client aimed not only to provide housing for seniors but also to redefine retirement living, placing hospitality at the forefront while seeking cost-efficient standardization methods.
The project’s standout feature was Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), introducing complexities in spans and load-bearing. Educating local officials about CLT’s safety and benefits became a pivotal challenge.
Pioneering in CLT required us to confront these challenges head-on. We engaged in meetings with city officials to clarify the advantages of CLT and provided white papers for code interpretations. Simultaneously, our team crafted CLT-specific construction details, ensuring both safety and structural innovation.
The outcome was Morningstar Hillsboro—a resort-style haven featuring 143 independent living units with amenities such as dining, a bar, indoor pool, theatre, fitness center, and outdoor spaces. By seamlessly integrating hospitality with CLT construction, senior living in Hillsboro sets an example of Northwest wood’s warmth, comfort, and style.
Nestled in close proximity to natural landscapes and retail hubs, Morningstar Hillsboro offers an exceptional living experience. Residents enjoy convenient access to sought-after destinations like Beaverton and Downtown Portland, as well as the vibrant local scene, including restaurants, microbreweries, unique shops, and a plethora of outdoor activities. This harmonious blend of luxurious living, architectural innovation, and a strategic locale positions Morningstar Hillsboro as a beacon of senior living excellence in the heart of the Pacific Northwest.
